The local portfolio of SWS Holding includes Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (SWS), which is the sole entity behind all wastewater collection, treatment, and reuse in the Emirate. With over 1,341,000 m3 collected daily through an extensive 12,000 km network supported by over 200 pumping stations and 42 treatment plants, the company works towards reducing the pressure on natural water resources and promote sustainability and value creation.

The Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions Company (AD-SWS) was formerly known as Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC), which was established in June 2005 went and through a rebranding in 2023, becoming SWS, issued by the Late Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the 2nd President of the United Arab Emirates. The core mandate of SWS is to collect and treat wastewater discharged from all residential and commercial areas in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and reuse it for various purposes.


In 2019, the ownership of SWS was changed from the Abu Dhabi Executive Council to the Abu Dhabi Holding Company (ADQ), mandated to own, oversee, and operate development-related state-owned enterprises in various sectors.


SWS has chalked out a strategic growth plan to be recognized globally, in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, aimed at developing a dynamic economy and enhancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation internationally over the coming years.


To reinforce its reputation locally, SWS has also launched projects to renew and replace the current aging infrastructure in the country by establishing new treatment plants across strategic locations in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region with an aim to serve the community and provide high-quality services.

In addition to multiple ISO certifications over the years, SWS has also achieved the Silver Award for built projects category at the International Awards for Liveable Communities, and Golden Employer Classification in Abu Dhabi TAWTEEN Council website. SWS has also received international awards for GIS implementations and was conferred The Hall of Fame Award for Executing Strategies – the first government entity in Abu Dhabi Emirate to be awarded in the Utilities and Energy Category.


SWS has also been conferred the ISO 55001 certification. With that, we are on the improvement journey to reach excellence to comply with the technicalities of best practices in Asset Management. Compliance with ISO 55001 validates that SWS is determined for a philosophy of continual improvement it also endorses organizational effectiveness and efficiency to maximize asset value and performance.
